Generally Whiter Sands preferred. |
White to Light Tan |
According to Golf Course Management, the sands selected for bunkers should have less then 3% silt plus clay. Ball percentage studies indicated that sands requiring greater than 2.4g/cm3 were reported to have few fried egg lies. In some instances glare problems can occur with sands that are white, and it may be desirable to avoid one that reflects too much light.
Independent lab testing done by Standard Soil Consultants.
